A series of new forums designed to promote and educate employers about skilled migration programs by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will be delivered in a visit of the department to across Western Australia (WA) next month.
The series of forums designed to reach out to businesses is a result of the Australian Immigration Department in cooperation with WA Department of Training and Workforce's efforts to promote Australian visas and immigration to help fill skill shortages.
Thanks to an abundance of natural resources, Western Australia is a booming region for mining companies and the DIAC tour is in response to an increasing demand for workers.
"The skill stream has increased by 12,000 places on 2010-11 program planning levels, to 125,850 places and policy initiatives are being implemented to assist Australian employers, businesses and regional areas to better address their skill needs," a DIAC spokesman stated.
The forums will cover an overview of skilled migration options or pathways available to those seeking to address skill shortages in regional and remote areas of the state across a range of industries.
From May 31 until July 1, 2011, the new forums will run in regional towns throughout Western Australia.
