Perth has been included in the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme and the regional General Skilled Migration visa programs, according to a recent official announcement from Australian Government.

- Skilled Regional (permanent) (Subclass 887).
The inclusion of Perth as a regional area of Australia means that the whole of Western Australia is now eligible for these programs. This is aimed at solving the skills shortage that this area has been experiencing.
The RSMS allows employers in regional or low population growth areas of Australia to sponsor foreign employees to work in Australia. Similarly, family sponsored regional GSM visas allow foreign workers to be sponsored by family members who are Australian citizens or permanent residents living in a designated area of Australia.
