For French, results of the following tests are accepted:
- Test d'Évaluation de Français (TEF)
- Test d'Évaluation de Français adapté au Québec (TEFAQ)
- Test de connaissance du français (TCF) pour le Québec
- Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF)/ Diplôme approfondi de langue française (DALF)
For English, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the only language test accepted.
For those applicants who have their application received at Quebec Immigration visa offices or postmarked before December 5, 2011, their language proficiency will continue to be evaluated at an interview rather than via their language test scores.
However, Robert Baril, Quebec Assistant Deputy Minister for Immigration, suggested that all candidates whose applications were received before December 5 should also submit their test scores to prove their French or English language skills. This can speed up their Canadian visa application processing.
