It is now easier for top international equestrian trainers to come and work in the UK as the UK Border Agency (UKBA) has allowed the British Horse Society (BHS) to issue endorsements for employers to sponsor these trainers.
According to BHS, the UKBA has approved endorsements issued by the BHS Approval Department that are necessary for international elite trainers who wish to apply for a Tier 2 (Sportsperson) visa or a Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visa of the points-based system.
In other words, the BHS can now sponsor a top-level equestrian trainer from outside the EU to apply for a visa to work in the UK. Endorsement requests should be forwarded to the Approvals Department where the information will be verified and the endorsement approved where appropriate. Each approved endorsement will be provided with a unique number for use by the employer when applying to the UKBA for registration as a Sponsor.
Applicants will be given "endorsement status" if the BHS can make sure that they have met the specific requirements as set out by the UKBA.
The BHS indicated that British equestrianism can benefit much from this approval, because it makes it easier for internationally established elite level equestrians to come and work in the UK using their skills and knowledge. It is also possible for BHS approved training centers and other registered equestrian centers in the UK to supplement their training provision and attract world class trainers to teach their students.
