Taiwan will be added to the list of countries and territories that can participate in the UK's Youth Mobility Scheme for working holidays from January 1, 2012.
The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme gives young people from participating countries and territories the opportunity to come and experience life in the UK as a working holiday maker.
The list of participating countries and territories currently includes Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and Monaco.
A number of places on the youth mobility scheme will be allocated for each country and territory by the UK government every year.
Accordingly, the UK will allocate every 1,000 places for the youngsters in Taiwan, Japan and Monaco in 2012. This number is in line with the places offered to UK nationals for the reciprocal schemes.
The addition of Taiwan to the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme will be reflected in an amendment of the UK immigration rules on January 1, 2012.
