October 4, 2011, the UK Border Agency announced changes to the list of approved English language test providers.
The changes to the list of approved English language test providers apply to UK visa applications made under the Tier 1 (Highly Skilled Workers), Tier 2 (Sponsored Workers) and Tier 4 (Students) visa programs and for spouse or partner visa applications.
The amendments are as follows:
- Instead of offering certification at just 2 levels of the Common European Framework, three tests awarded by Cambridge ESOL now require certification at 3 levels. The three tests are the Cambridge English: Key, Cambridge English: Preliminary and Cambridge English: Business Preliminary
- The web address for the tests of English for international communication (TOEIC) and English as a foreign language (TOEFL) has been updated by the Educational Testing Service (ETS)
- Pearson have updated their contact details and clarified that they do not issue paper certificates
- The speaking part of the City and Guilds English language test requires a separate certificate and notification of candidate results sheet
