Th UK Ministry of Justice has announced the introduction of a new fee for some asylum and immigration appeals from 19 December 2011.
A fee will be required for individuals who wish to appeal against a decision notice dated 19 December 2011 or later.
Most categories of UK visas and decisions will be affected by the changes. The Ministry of Justice will outline any exemptions to the fees. This will not apply for any decision notices that are dated before 19 December.
The UK Border Agency also announced that after 19 December 2011, people would only be able to lodge their appeals at the tribunal in the UK. The department would no longer accept appeals at any of its overseas visa application centres.
From 19 December, the Ministry of Justice will provide the public with full guidance on the changes in the department's website.
