All UK visa applications made by Malaysian citizens will be processed by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) at the British Embassy in Manila, the Philippines.
Malaysians applying for visas to the UK can still submit their visa application and provide their biometric information at the VFS centre in Kuala Lumpur but the applications will be sent to Manila from processing. Applicants' passports will then be returned to the VFS centre in Kuala Lumpur for collection.
Mr. Simon Featherstone, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, confirmed that Manila hub had a good track record based on UK immigration visa applications it handled for nine other countries. He stated that "There is no reason to believe otherwise. The UKBA will continue to process all applications within its customer service standards which is 15 days". Mr. Featherstone also added "We have been averaging about five days in Kuala Lumpur and I think we can do equally well in Manila, if not better".
