December 19, 2011. It is now easier for UK visa applicants from Pakistan to be granted their visa as the UK Border Agency (UKBA) has launched a premium lounge service at its Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Karachi.
The new service, which is offered by the UKBA's commercial partner Gerrys, is aimed at visa applicants from Pakistan under all categories, particularly the business community, and provides a premium lounge service that can issue UK visas within 15 working days. The move is in response to an increasingly high number of applications received by the UKBA from Pakistan in 2010.
"The only pre-requisite for the grant of fast UK visas to Pakistanis is submission of duly filled applications accompanied by requisite documents. The launch of premium lounge service at VAC (Visa Application Center) will be a great offer for the business community of Pakistan," stated Francis Campbell, the Director to the UK Trade and Investment Pakistan and the UK Deputy High Commissioner.
Thanks to the new service, Pakistani applicants can check the status of their UK visa application through free SMS alerts. It will also facilitate convenient and fast submission of UK visa applications by having abolished the need to make an appointment prior to submitting a visa application at the VAC.
The service, as Campbell indicated, would improve bilateral trade relations between the UK and Pakistan. The UK, he said, wanted to raise the bilateral trade up to £2.5 billion by 2015 from its current level of £1.9 billion.
According to the Regional Director UK Border Trade Agency Mandy Ivemy, the opening of the new lounge in Karachi means the premium lounge service is now available at all VACs in Pakistan.
