The UKBA has published a list of financial institutions from which they will no longer accept documentation for the purpose of meeting the maintenance (financial funds) requirement for Tier 4 visa applications.
This list will be used when verifying an applicant's available funds under the Tier 4 visa category and applicants who submit documents from a financial institution on the list will not receive any points for the maintenance requirement.
The list is part of reforms to the UK student visa program. The reforms have been made to ensure that student visa applicants have the required financial funds to support themselves and pay for their course while in the UK.
UKBA will give applicants 30-day's notice from the date when a financial institution is first added to the list before the rule will take effect. During this time, applicants can make any necessary arrangements to provide satisfactory financial documentation.
The list will be continually reviewed and any additions or deletions will be made by the UKBA. Verification of financial information from financial institutions which do not appear on the list will continue and applications may be refused on the basis of these individual checks. The list and details of the criteria used to assess financial institutions are now available on the UKBA website.
