Scholarships to Study Abroad

The following is the detail of Scholarships in UK (England), Germany, Sweden, Australia, Canada, US and other countries.

What are scholarships ?

Scholarships are a form of financial aid to assist you in paying expenses related to your education such as tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, etc. Scholarships are funded by donations from private individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations and by state institutions. They are usually not based on need and generally, do not have to be repaid. A scholarship is an award of money or assistance that a student receives to help cover the expense of further education.

Most scholarships are based on merit. Merit usually refers to excellence in such things as academic achievement, music, or sports.

The financial needs of the applicants are not usually taken into account in awarding scholarships, so that even people from wealthy families can still win them. Scholarships can take the form of money or credit given to a student directly or of money given to a college or university in the form of tuition or residence payments for a student.

Scholarships are not a new idea. They have been around for a long time, and that is why there are so many of them and why they can be so hard to find.

Our goal is to help you learn as much as possible about the college, university, graduate school, and professional school admissions process, identify and contact colleges, universities, or graduate schools which best meet your needs, and discover the scholarships and financial aid programs for which you may qualify.

Your search would start by looking for the most probable options and too try and match it up with the arrangements you have made for your self. Make sure you know where it is that you want to go and once you are there.

1. Assessment:

The following criteria will be assessed by a Scholarship Selection Committee to select the recipients for any scholarship:
  • Scholarship Application
  • Academic Achievement
  • Activities in and out of school, including work experience
  • Leadership
  • Personal Profile Statement
  • Letters of Recommendation
2. Fulfill the Eligibility Qualifications

3. Follow the Guidelines and Procedures

Why are scholarships awarded?

You may be wondering why universities and colleges give out scholarships. It sounds like a merchant paying someone to shop in his or her store. Universities and colleges award scholarships to attract the most talented students. Because educational institutions are in competition with each other for students, many of them feel the need to offer financial incentives to bring in talented ones.

It is important to have good students in order to get and keep good professors. If the institution has good professors, then it will get more research grants from the government. Thus, there are a lot of reasons why it is in the best interests of a college or university to offer good students money to go there.

These places also hope that when you have graduated and found a good job you will donate money to your old school! Above all else, most scholarships are designed to recognize and encourage excellence.

What must I generally do to win a scholar ship?

As a rule, the greater the value of the scholarship, the more work is involved in winning it. Many of the big scholarships have lengthy application forms. Applicants are also required to get two or three letters of recommendation. You may also be asked to write one or two essays on a given topic. There may even be an interview.

It sounds like a lot of work, but you have to remember that once you have set yourself up to try for one scholarship you might as well apply for several. At present there is no central authority that limits the amount of scholarship money a student can try out for.

Financial Aid & Scholarships in UK (England & Scotland)

There is very little financial aid in the UK for international students (Pakistani Students). Some universities may give students with good or exceptional backgrounds, a part tuition fee waiver. Some universities give discounts of 1000 - 1500 Pounds to students with good academic backgrounds.

There are some scholarships especially for postgraduate and research studies. Information about these scholarships is available on respective university websites..
